Mali Education Ministry Chooses AI to Preserve Local Language

Mali replaced French as the country's official language last year.

The Washington Post reported on the creation of schoolbooks in Mali in the Bambara language. With the right intention and creativity, artificial intelligence can yield good learning materials for a variety of cultures:


"Over the past year, RobotsMali has collaborated with Mali’s Ministry of Education to create Bambara language educational materials using AI tools like ChatGPT and Google Translate. Their efforts have yielded a library of around a hundred AI-generated books, significantly boosting resources for teaching Bambara in schools."
